Ecoaldeia de Janas is a group of people, united with the aim of building and living in a centre of non-formal education to sustainability, linked to traditional and manual crafts, applying and sharing practical solutions, and innovative, in the sense of a greater resilience, local and regional.
The pillars of this initiative are based on an experience and learning sharing, based on practical sustainability, creating a network of collaborators, students, trainers, residents and associates that, together, dynamize activities, services and products on different topics: natural beekeeping, carpentry and natural construction, regenerative agriculture, education and training, natural food, consumption and collaborative production, agroforestry, water management, natural cosmetics, among many others.
We aim to inspire audiences of all ages and demonstrate solutions that can be replicated in a simple way, practical and sustainable at a local level (do it yourself). Through collaborative principles, ecological and social responsibility, we want to share the traditional wisdom (and at the same time innovative), ecologically, culturally and socioeconomically.
Our long term vision is of a post-transition future, where the urban planning and energy of the cities, towns, villages and even neighbourhoods and streets are resized at a local and regional level, where the services and products have their origin in the same local. The creation of sustainable local businesses is one of the components which most characterizes our activity and the integration of collaborators and important local initiatives, to promote local economy, to enhance the participation of the inhabitants and the creation of a network of institutions and regional governments.
